The former civil parish was created in 1896 from the Flintshire portion of St Asaph, and lies on the eastern bank of the River Clwyd, 2.7 miles east of St Asaph, 15.4 miles north west of Mold, 5.1 miles north of Denbigh and 11.9 miles north of Ruthin.
