The Shekhan District is a district in the Nineveh Governorate with its capital at Ain Sifni. It is bordered by the Amadiya and Dahuk Districts of the Dahuk Governorate to the north, the Akre District to the east, Al-Hamdaniya District to the south, and the Tel Kaif District to the west. Baadre, considered the political capital of the Yazidis, is also in this district. Shekhan District is situated 3 km northeast of قايمقامية الشيخان.

Jerwan is a locality north of Mosul in the Nineveh Province of Iraq. The site is clear of vegetation and is sparsely settled. The site is famous for the ruins of an enormous aqueduct crossing the Khenis River, constructed of more than two million dressed stones and using stone arches and waterproof cement. Jirawanah is situated 5 km east of قايمقامية الشيخان.
