The Scott Monument is a Victorian Gothic monument to Scottish author Sir Walter Scott. It is the second-largest monument to a writer in the world after the José Martí monument in Havana. Scott Monument is situated 600 feet south of St Andrew Square.

Edinburgh Waverley is the principal railway station serving Edinburgh, Scotland. It is the second busiest station in Scotland, after Glasgow Central. The station serves as the northern terminus of the East Coast Main Line, 393 miles 13 chains from London King's Cross, although some trains operated by London North Eastern Railway continue to other Scottish destinations beyond Edinburgh. Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station is situated 810 feet southeast of St Andrew Square.

St Andrew Square is a garden square in Edinburgh, Scotland, located at the east end of George Street. The construct of St Andrew Square began in 1772, as the first part of the New Town, designed by James Craig.

New Town of Edinburgh is 250 years old, in contrast to the Old Town settled for over a thousand years. It was laid out on a grid pattern in the late 18th century with elegant Georgian townhouses, and the intervening loch was drained to become Princes Street Gardens.
