Inverness Castle is a castle overlooking the River Ness in Inverness, Highland, Scotland. A succession of castles has occupied the site since 1057, although the present red sandstone structure was completed in 1836 to designs by William Burn and later extended by Thomas Brown II. Inverness Castle is situated 410 feet south of Mercat Cross.
