Yongdingmen was the former front gate of the outer city of Beijing's old city wall. Originally built in 1553 during Ming Dynasty, it was torn down in the 1950s to make way for the new road system in Beijing. Yongdingmen is situated 1½ km north of Muxi Yuan.

Yongdingmenwai station is an interchange station on Line 8 and Line 14 of the Beijing Subway. The Line 14 station was opened on December 26, 2015. The Line 8 station was opened on December 30, 2018. Outer Yongdingmen is situated 730 metres north of Muxi Yuan.

Yongdingmenwai Subdistrict is a subdistrict in the southern part of Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. By the year 2020, it has a population of 64,790. The subdistrict got its name from Yongdingmen, a former front gate on the Beijing city wall.
