Aviemore railway station serves the town and tourist resort of Aviemore in the Highlands of Scotland. The station, which is owned by Network Rail and managed by ScotRail, is on the Highland Main Line, 83 miles 31 chains from Perth, between Kingussie and Carrbridge, and is also the southern terminus of the Strathspey preserved railway. Aviemore railway station is situated 2,100 feet northeast of Layby 131.

Craigellachie is a hill lying to the west of the village of Aviemore in Strathspey, in the central Highlands of Scotland. Craigellachie was declared a national nature reserve in 1961, and is managed by NatureScot through a lease from Reidhaven Estate.

Loch Alvie is a loch located north of the River Spey, in the civil parish of Alvie, in the council area of Highland, Scotland. The loch is about two miles southwest of Aviemore. HMS Loch Alvie, launched in 1944, is named after the loch. Loch Alvie is situated 2 miles southwest of Layby 131.

Coylumbridge is situated 1½ miles east of Layby 131.
