Spring Lake is a village in the town of Coventry, Rhode Island. The Johnson family were early owners of the land in the area and, in 1818, sold the property to Ezra Ramsdell to build a warp thread mill along the Mishnock River. Spring Lake is situated 3½ miles north of Big Beach.

Crompton is a community in West Warwick, Rhode Island, United States. It is named after Samuel Crompton, inventor of the spinning mule. The Crompton Mill was set up in 1807, on the east bank of the Pawtuxet River, and is thought to be the first stone mill built in Rhode Island. Crompton is situated 4 miles northeast of Big Beach.
