One of seven Munros on the long Glen Sheil ridge, it is usually climbed in the conjunction with the other six. Sgurr an Doire Leathain is situated 2 miles northeast of Coire a‘ Chaorainn.

Kinloch Hourn is a small settlement at the end of Loch Hourn, in the West Highlands of Scotland. The name comes from the Gaelic, Ceann Loch Shubhairne, for "the head of Loch Hourn". Kinloch Hourn is situated 2½ miles west of Coire a‘ Chaorainn.
