Pleven is a city in North Bulgaria, a major economic and industrial hub. The 1877 Siege of Pleven was one of the key battles of Bulgaria's Liberation War, and it's commemorated in various ways throughout the city, most notably by the Pleven Panorama.

Vidin

Vidin is a city in the north-west corner of Bulgaria. It's a minor port on the river Danube which separates Bulgaria and Romania, and a major border crossing due to the Vidin-Calafat bridge - the second "hard" connection between the two countries, opened in 2013.
Lovech

Lovech is a city in North Bulgaria, on the river Osam under the foothills of the Balkan Mountains. A gateway to the important pass Beklemeto and the mountain crafts centre Troyan, it's also home to a number of preserved 19th-century buildings and a covered bridge.
Vratsa

Vratsa is a city of in North Bulgaria. Built at the foot of a branch of the Balkan Mountains, it has one of the most scenic skylines in Bulgaria, and it's also the starting point for numerous natural features, most notably the Ledenika Cave, the Skaklya Waterfall and the Vrattsata Pass.

Montana is a city in northwestern Bulgaria, on the banks of the Ogosta river and right by the Ogosta Reservoir, not far from the northern foothills of the Balkan Mountains.
Belogradchik

Belogradchik is a small town in North Bulgaria, in the foothills of the Balkan Mountains. It's famous for the unique rock formations that surround it and the fortress nested in them. Nearby is also a famous cave open to visitors.
Varshets

Varshets is a town and spa resort in North Bulgaria, in the foothills of the Balkan Mountains, not far from Vratsa and Montana. After soaking in its mineral-water baths, you can enjoy the trails of the 80 hectares forest park and the wilder woods of the mountains.
Chiprovtsi

Chiprovtsi is a small town in North Bulgaria, in the Balkan Mountains. It's famous for its traditional hand-woven carpets/rugs, and it's one of the few Roman Catholic enclaves in Bulgaria, an otherwise mostly Eastern Orthodox country.

Arbanasi is a small village close to the city of Veliko Tarnovo in the north-central part of Bulgaria, notable for its preserved 19th century architecture and old churches.
