North Konkan

Thane

Thane, formerly known as Thana, is a city in North Konkan, Maharashtra. Its biggest claim to fame is that the first railway line laid in India was from Bori Bunder to Thane station.

Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai, formerly New Bombay, is a planned city near Mumbai, India. It was founded in 1971, as a satellite township to take the pressure off the core city.

Ulhasnagar

Ulhasnagar is a suburb near Thane, in the North Konkan region of western Maharashtra. The town is known for its significant Sindhi refugees since the partition of India in 1947, and there have been calls by the Sindhis to rename it Sindhunagar.

Khopoli

Khopoli is an industrial town of 109,000 people in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, at the base of the Sahyadri mountains. Patalganga River flows through Khopoli. The city is called a city of waterfalls due to the number of waterfalls in the rainy season.

Badlapur is a city in the North Konkan region of Maharashtra. Initially, it was a group of 4 villages of Katrap, Kulgaon, Badlapur and Manjarli, and the actual "Badlapur" village is approximately 10 km from the main city centre.
