Stornoway is the main town on and the admin centre for all of Scotland's . Indeed it's the only town in these islands; it has the best amenities and transport links, and it's the obvious base for exploring both Lewis and Harris.

is a Victorian era castle located west of the town of Stornoway, , Scotland. It was built in the years 1844–51 as a country house for Sir James Matheson who had bought the whole island a few years previously with his fortune from the Chinese opium trade.
