The Scalan was a Scottish Catholic seminary and one of the few places in Scotland where the Catholic faith was kept alive during the anti-Catholic persecutions of the 18th century. Scalan is situated 1¼ miles south of Belno of Achnascraw.

Càrn Mòr is the highest mountain of the Ladder Hills on the border of Aberdeenshire and Moray, Scotland. It is located northeast of the Cairngorm Mountains near Strathdon. It rises high above Glenlivet in an area once renowned for its whisky smuggling. Càrn Mòr is situated 2 miles southeast of Belno of Achnascraw.

Tomintoul is a village in the Moray council area of Scotland in the historic county of Banffshire. Within Cairngorms National Park, the village lies close to the banks of the River Avon and is said by some to be the highest village in the Scottish Highlands, although at 345 m it is still much lower than the highest village in Scotland. Tomintoul is situated 5 miles west of Belno of Achnascraw.

Glenlivet is a glen in the Highlands of Scotland through which the River Livet flows. The river rises high in the Ladder Hills and flows past several distileries and hamlets and then onto the Bridgend before joining the River Avon, one of the main tributaries of the River Spey. Glenlivet is situated 6 miles northwest of Belno of Achnascraw.
