Skara Brae

Skara Brae is a stone-built Neolithic settlement located along the Bay of Skaill on the west coast of Mainland, Orkney. The site was discovered following a storm exposing the presence of stone structures within the coastal sand dunes. Skara Brae is situated 1½ miles northwest of Hurkisgarth.

Skaill House is a historic manor house in Sandwick parish on Mainland, the largest of the Orkney Islands, Scotland. The house overlooks the Neolithic site, Skara Brae, and the Bay of Skaill. Skaill House is situated 1¼ miles northwest of Hurkisgarth.

Loch of Skaill

The Loch of Skaill is a small somewhat triangular, freshwater loch in the parish of Sandwick, Orkney on Mainland Orkney, Scotland. It lies 0.5 mi south east of the Bay of Skaill close to Skaill House and the World Heritage neolithic site Skara Brae. Loch of Skaill is situated 4,200 feet northwest of Hurkisgarth.
