The Aventine Hill is one of the Seven Hills on which ancient Rome was built. It belongs to Ripa, the modern twelfth rione, or ward, of Rome.

The Cloaca Maxima or, less often, Maxima Cloaca, is one of the world's earliest sewage systems. Its name is related to that of Cloacina, a Roman goddess. Cloaca Maxima is situated 530 metres north of Giardino Piero Piccioni.

The Temple of Portunus is a small ancient Roman temple in Rome, Italy, on the modern Piazza della Bocca della Verità. It was built beside the ancient Forum Boarium, the Roman cattle market associated with Hercules, which was adjacent to Rome's oldest river port and the oldest stone bridge across the Tiber River, the Pons Aemilius. Temple of Portunus is situated 570 metres north of Giardino Piero Piccioni.
