The Crossness Sewage Treatment Works is a sewage treatment plant located at Crossness in the London Borough of Bexley. It was opened in 1865 and is Europe's second largest sewage treatment works, after its counterpart Beckton Sewage Treatment Works located north of the river. Crossness Sewage Treatment Works is situated 1,700 feet southeast of Oil Store.

Thamesmead is an area of south-east London, England, straddling the border between the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Bexley. It is located 11 miles east of Charing Cross, north-east of Woolwich and west of Belvedere. It mainly consists of social housing built from the mid-1960s onwards on former marshland on the south bank of the River Thames.
