Vianden Castle

Vianden Castle, located in Vianden in the north of Luxembourg, is one of the largest fortified castles west of the Rhine. With origins dating from the fourth century as a Roman outpost and the 10th century, the more familiar castle form was built in the Romanesque style from the 11th to 14th centuries. Vianden Castle is situated 2½ km northeast of Chapelle Saint-Jean-Évangéliste.

It has a history going back to the 9th and 10th centuries when there was a wooden fort on the site. Brandenbourg Castle is situated 3 km southwest of Chapelle Saint-Jean-Évangéliste.
