Mosedale Viaduct

The Mosedale Viaduct carried the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway over Mosedale Beck until its closure in 1972. Building work on the viaduct began in 1862, and the first test train crossed it in 1864. Mosedale Viaduct is situated 3,600 feet southeast of Stoneraise.

It is most famous for the appearance of a "spectral army", said to have been seen marching along its crest on Midsummer's Day, 1745. Souther Fell is situated 1½ miles north of Stoneraise.
