The Waterloo Monument near Ancrum in the Scottish Borders is a 150-foot tower, built between 1817 and 1824 to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo. It was designed by the architect Archibald Elliot, after the original monument designed by William Burn collapsed. Waterloo Monument is situated 1¼ miles southeast of Fairnington.

Lilliesleaf lies 7 miles further along the B6400 and Denholm can be reached along the unclassified road which runs parallel to the River Teviot. Ancrum is situated 2½ miles southwest of Fairnington.
