Chennai Central, is a railway station in Chennai, India. It is one of the busiest railway stations in South India and a major rail hub in the country. It is classified as a NSG–1 category station and comes under the purview of the Chennai railway division of the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Chennai Central railway station is situated 490 metres south of Chennai Central.

Fort St. George is a fortress at the coastal city of Chennai, India. Founded in 1639, it was the first English fortress in India. The construction of the fort provided the impetus for further settlements and trading activity, in what was originally an uninhabited land.
