It is an interchange station between the North East Line and Punggol LRT, and one of the two MRT stations located within Punggol planning area. Punggol is situated 560 metres northeast of Punggol Ripples.

The Sengkang LRT line is a 10.7-kilometre elevated automated guideway transit line in Sengkang, Singapore. The driverless line consists of 14 stations on two loops, with Sengkang station serving as the interchange for both loops and linking to the North East Line on the Mass Rapid Transit system. Compassvale is situated 770 metres south of Punggol Ripples.
