The Christopher Columbus Theater (Spanish: Teatro de Cristóbal Colón, or Columbus Theater, is Colombia's National Theatre, located in Bogotá. It was built in the Neoclassical style by the Italian architect Pietro Cantini on October 5, 1885 and inaugurated on October 27, 1892. on the occasion of the fourth centenary of Columbus' first landing in the Americas with a performance of Verdi's Ernani. Teatro de Cristóbal Colón is situated 140 metres southeast of Cathedral Metropolitan Basilica of Bogotá & Primate of Colombia.
