The Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal is a Canadian government-funded dramatic school founded in 1954. The first director was Jan Doat. He was succeeded by Jean Valcourt in 1955 on the condition that a branch also be opened in Quebec City, which occurred in 1958. Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal is situated 200 metres northwest of Usine Mont-Royal.

Outremont, once its own town, was incorporated into Montreal in 2002. As its name suggests, it's on the other side of Mount Royal from downtown, and is a predominately residential area, home to well-known Québec artists and celebrities and to Montreal's Hasidic Jewish community.
