Mavisbank is a country house outside Loanhead, south of Edinburgh in Midlothian, Scotland. It was designed by architect William Adam in collaboration with his client, Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, and was constructed between 1723 and 1727. Mavisbank House is situated 1¼ miles east of Pentland Industrial Park.

Bilston is a small village in Midlothian, Scotland. It is located on the edge of Edinburgh, just south of Loanhead on the A701. The Bilston Burn Site of Special Scientific Interest was occupied from 2002 until the mid-2010s by protestors who successfully opposed plans for a bypass.
