The French Concession is the area of Shanghai that the French government administered from 1849 until 1946. The tree-lined avenues and the many fine old houses in the area still retain an air of the "Paris of the East".

Shikumen Wulixiang Museum

The Shikumen Open House Museum is a museum in the Xintiandi area of Shanghai, China that presents a house in the traditional shikumen style. This is a small museum on the south side of the North Block of Xintiandi on Xingye Road that presents Shanghai life as it was around the 1920s and 30s in a shikumen-style "stone-gate" house. Shikumen Wulixiang Museum is situated 110 metres west of Site of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.
