Wigton is a market town in the Cumberland district of Cumbria, England. It lies just outside the Lake District. Wigton is at the centre of the Solway Plain, between the Caldbeck Fells and the Solway coast.

Crofton is an area of Thursby, Cumberland district of Cumbria, England. It is 6.4 miles west-southwest of Carlisle. In 1870-72 the township had a population of 105.

Brackenthwaite is a settlement situated some 3 miles south-east of the town of Wigton in the English county of Cumbria. It should not be confused with the identically named settlement of Brackenthwaite that is situated some 6 miles south of Cockermouth in the same county.
