Unst is the most northerly inhabited island of the Shetland Islands, north of mainland Scotland, with a population of 632 in 2011. Life here was traditionally based on herring fishing: the herring now are sparse but small-scale fishing continues, along with sheep farming.

Cullivoe, is a village on Yell in the Shetland Islands. It is in the north east of the island, near Bluemull Sound, not far from Unst. Cullivoe is a fishing port, and was formerly the ferry terminal for Unst, before ro-ro ferries - the terminal is now at Gutcher. Cullivoe is situated 3 miles southwest of Breck.

Uyeasound is a village on the Isle of Unst, the northernmost island of the Shetland Islands, Scotland. It takes its name from the neighbouring strait of the same name, which looks over to the Isle of Uyea. Uyeasound is situated 3 miles south of Breck.

Belmont is a settlement and ferry terminal in southern Unst in the Shetland Islands. The ferry crosses Bluemull Sound from here to Gutcher in Yell and to Hamars Ness in Fetlar. Belmont House, a Georgian mansion built in 1775 by Thomas Mouat, was restored by Historic Scotland amongst others, and opened to the public in 2011. Belmont is situated 3½ miles south of Breck.
