Between 2009 and 2019, the stadium hosted home matches of the Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG, and has been the current home of Shanghai Shenhua since 2023. Shanghai Stadium is situated 2 km east of Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital.

Guilin Road is an interchange station between Line 9 and Line 15 of the Shanghai Metro. When the line opened on 29 December 2007, it was the eastern terminus of Line 9, with a shuttle bus providing a link between this station and Yishan Road station. Guilin Road is situated 570 metres southwest of Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital.
