Truthall Halt on the Helston branch was opened on 3 July 1905. The small station, which was located just above the 300 feet contour, served the villages of Trannack and Gwavas, and also Truthall Manor.

First developed in the 13th century, the estate was owned by a succession of families until 1994 when it was sold for development as a tourist attraction based around its extensive gardens. Trevarno is situated 3,800 feet west of Platelayers Hut.
