Lau Pa Sat, also known as Telok Ayer Market, is a historic building located within the Downtown Core in the Central Area of Singapore. It was first built in 1824 as a fish market on the waterfront serving the people of early colonial Singapore and rebuilt in 1838. Lau Pa Sat is situated 280 metres northwest of Downtown.

The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and a fish's tail that is widely used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore.
