Heidelberg is a town with 35,500 inhabitants in the Gauteng province of South Africa, some 50 kilometres south-east of Johannesburg, close to the Mpumalanga border.

Ratanda is a township south of Heidelberg in Gauteng, South Africa. It was established in 1955. Ratanda was one of the first townships to be affected by unrest which broke out in 1984 on the highveld. Ratanda is situated 7 km south of Heidelberg Kloof Estate.
