Olavshallen was built in 1989 as a concert hall and is named after a historical tradition in Trondheim, Norway, the St. Olav tradition. The foundation stone was laid by HM King Olav V 22 July 1988. Olavshallen Concert Hall is situated 130 metres southwest of Trondheim Maritime Museum.

The name Verftsbrua comes from the nearby shipyard, Trondhjems mekaniske Værksted, while the name Blomsterbrua is due to the bridge featuring flowerbeds along its edges. Verftsbrua is situated 140 metres northeast of Trondheim Maritime Museum.
