The mausoleum contains the remains of Abulqāsim Ja’far ibn al-Husayn, grandson of the Shī‘ah Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn. Imamzadeh Ja’far is situated 550 metres north of Imam Hussein Telecommunications.

Situated in the old district of Borujerd city, previously called Do Dangeh, the Jameh Mosque of Borujerd was built on an ancient fire temple of the pre-Islamic Sasanian Empire in the 3rd century AH, and is the oldest mosque in the Zagros area and western Iran.
