The Monastery of Euthymius started as a lavra-type monastic settlement in the Judaean desert, founded by Saint Euthymius the Great in 420, known as the Laura or Lavra of Euthymius. Monastery of Euthymius is situated 2½ km east of Wādī al Minfākh.

Yeshivat Birkat Moshe is a hesder yeshiva located in the Mitzpeh Nevo neighborhood of the Israeli settlement, Ma'ale Adumim. It was founded in 1977 by Haim Sabato and Yitzchak Sheilat, then two young rabbis from Yeshivat HaKotel, in Jerusalem.

In 2018, there were between 173 and 180 Bedouin, including 92 children, living there in tents and huts, upwards of 100 in 2010, with its local school serving the needs of 150 children in the area. Khan al Ahmar is situated 3 km northeast of Wādī al Minfākh.
