Staraya Ladoga, or the Aldeigjuborg of Norse sagas, is a village in Leningrad Oblast, on the mighty Volkhov River 8 km north of the town of Volkhov. It was annexed by the Viking Rurik, from whom the Tsars traced their bloodline.
