Dingwall Academy is the largest secondary school in the Highlands of Scotland, with an enrolment of 1,048 pupils as of August 2018. The academy is situated in the centre of Dingwall and brings in pupils from Conon Bridge, Maryburgh, Muir of Ord, Strathpeffer, Evanton and the surrounding area.

Dingwall is a town in Easter Ross in the Scottish Highlands, with a population in 2020 of 5360. Its name derives from the Scandinavian Þingvöllr, a meeting-place, and it was once astride several transport routes.

Maryburgh is a village in the Highland council area of Scotland, 2 miles south of Dingwall. It is situated on the northern bank of the River Conon. The village of Conon Bridge is on the other side of the river. Maryburgh is situated 1½ miles south of Tulloch Castle.

Fodderty is a small hamlet, close to Dingwall, Ross-shire in the Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland. The small hamlet of Bottacks is located 1 mile to the west, and just to the east is Brae or Brea, formed in 1777 from the lands of Davochcarn, Davochmaluag and Davochpollo. Fodderty is situated 2 miles west of Tulloch Castle.
