Laurencekirk railway station is a railway station serving the communities of Laurencekirk and The Mearns in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The station was reopened on 17 May 2009 at a cost of £3 million.

Fordoun is a parish and village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Fothirdun, as it was historically known, was an important area in the Howe of the Mearns. Fordoun and Auchenblae, together with their immediate districts form the Parish of Fordoun with the Parish Church in the vicinity of the original settlement, now absorbed by Auchenblae. Fordoun is situated 3½ miles northeast of Laurencekirk.
