Loch Bad an Sgalaig is a small, irregular shaped, freshwater loch and reservoir lying 5 mi south of the village of Gairloch, in Wester Ross, Scotland. The north west end of the loch, where it outflows to the Eas na Laimh stream, was dammed in 1949 to power the Kerry Falls hydroelectric power station. Loch Bad an Sgalaig is situated 2 miles southeast of Kerrysdale.

Charlestown is a small hamlet, making up one of the settlements which are collectively called Gairloch, and located 2 kilometres south of the main village of Gairloch, and overlooking the harbour area, on the west of Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland.

Gairloch is a straggling community along the west coast of Ross and Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands, with a population of 620 in 2020. The land is hilly and farming isn't very productive, but shellfishing remains a traditional occupation.
