Dry Island is an inhabited island in Loch Gairloch in Wester Ross, Scotland, and part of the Inner Hebrides. Dry Island is translated from the Gaelic name for the Island "Eilean Tioram". Dry Island is situated 1½ miles southwest of Gairloch Harbour.

Charlestown is a small hamlet, making up one of the settlements which are collectively called Gairloch, and located 2 kilometres south of the main village of Gairloch, and overlooking the harbour area, on the west of Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland.

Gairloch is a straggling community along the west coast of Ross and Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands, with a population of 620 in 2020. The land is hilly and farming isn't very productive, but shellfishing remains a traditional occupation.
