The Repentance Tower is a very rare example of a mid-16th century watch tower standing on Trailtrow Hill, six miles north-west of Annan, Dumfries and Galloway.

The village was a planned the concept dating to 1800 from the Paisley-Dirom family of Mount Annan, set around a bridge over the River Annan. Brydekirk is situated 2 miles southeast of Hoddom Castle.

Ecclefechan is a village located in Dumfries and Galloway in the south of Scotland. The village is famous for being the birthplace of Thomas Carlyle. Ecclefechan lies in the valley of the Mein Water, a tributary of the River Annan, 6+1⁄4 miles south of Lockerbie, five miles north of Annan and eight miles northwest of the English border. Ecclefechan is situated 2½ miles northeast of Hoddom Castle.
