Frösön

Frösön is the largest island in the lake Storsjön, Jämtland, Sweden. Part of the city Östersund is located on the island. During most of recorded history Frösön was the regional centre of Jämtland, and it is the location of the Frösö Runestone, the northernmost runestone in the world.

Östersund is the seat of Jämtland County in Norrland in Sweden. It was founded in 1786, as the only Swedish city founded during the 18th century.

Torvalla is a city district in southern Östersund, about six kilometres from the city core. The district has a population of around 8000. Torvalla is divided into 3 smaller areas: Fjällmon or Nedre Torvalla, Skogsmon or Övre Torvalla and Ängsmon or Bortre Torvalla. Torvalla is situated 10 km southeast of Tanne.
