Fort George was a palisaded earthwork fort built in 1779 by Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War in Castine, Maine. Located at a high point on the Bagaduce Peninsula, the fort was built as part of an initiative by the British to establish a new colony called New Ireland. Fort George is situated 480 feet northwest of Maine Maritime Academy.

Built in 1829 to guide vessels along the Penobscot River and into Castine Harbor, the lighthouse served the region's flourishing shipbuilding and lumber trade until its deactivation in 1937.
