The North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve is a nature reserve of 3,315 acres located three miles north of Oroville, in Butte County, northern California. The land was acquired by the state in October, 1993. North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve is situated 1½ miles northeast of Beatson Hollow.

Oregon City, formerly Bloomingdale and Hengy, is a ghost town located between Oroville and Cherokee in Butte County, California. One of the first mining camps in the county, it was established in the autumn of 1848 by a party of Oregonians, who came to California over the Applegate and Lassen trails. Oregon City is situated 4 miles east of Beatson Hollow.
