The Umayyad Mosque, also known as the Great Mosque of Damascus, located in the old city of Damascus, the capital of Syria, is one of the largest and oldest mosques in the world. Umayyad Mosque is situated 1 km west of Bab Tuma.

Bab Sharqi, also known as the Gate of the Sun, is one of the seven ancient city gates of Damascus, Syria. Its modern name comes from its location in the eastern side of the city. Bab ash-Sharqi is situated 530 metres southeast of Bab Tuma.
