Nahr Barbar
Locality
Pharpar is a biblical river in Syria. It is the less important of the two rivers of Damascus mentioned in the Book of Kings, now generally identified with the Nahr al-Awaj, also called Awaj, although if the reference to Damascus is limited to the city, as in the Arabic version of the Old Testament, Pharpar would be the modern Taura. Nahr Barbar is situated 4 km west of Al ‘Awjah.

Al-Kiswah is a city in the Rif Dimashq Governorate, Syria. It is located approximately 13 kilometres south of Damascus. It was the location of the 1303 Battle of Marj al-Saffar, and the childhood home of Adnan Awad. Al-Kiswah is situated 9 km southeast of Al ‘Awjah.
