Quneitra is the largely destroyed and abandoned capital of the Quneitra Governorate in south-western Syria. It is situated in a high valley in the Golan Heights at 1,010 metres above sea level.

Buq'ata covers an area of 7,000 dunams between two mountains in the Golan Heights, Mount Hermonit and Mount Varda. Buq’ata is situated 7 km northwest of Khirbat Abū Rakkah.

The international community considers Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this. El Rom is situated 7 km west of Khirbat Abū Rakkah.
