Al-Qabu was a Palestinian Arab village in the Jerusalem Subdistrict. The name is an Arabic variation of the site's original Roman name, and the ruins of a church there are thought to date to the era of Byzantine or Crusader rule over Palestine. Al-Qabu is situated 750 metres north of H̱orbat H̱emdan.

Betar was an ancient Jewish town in the Judaean Mountains, continuously inhabited since the Iron Age and up until the 2nd century CE. It is most famously known as the final stronghold of the Bar Kokhba revolt. Beitar is situated 1½ km northeast of H̱orbat H̱emdan.
