Homs is the third largest city in Syria. Much of the city was destroyed or damaged during the Syrian Civil War of 2011-2024, particularly during the Siege of Homs.

Talbiseh is a large town in northwestern Syria administratively part of the Homs Governorate, about 10 kilometers north of Homs. Nearby localities include al-Rastan to the north, al-Ghantoo to the southwest and al-Mashrafah to the east. Talbiseh is situated 10 km northeast of Al ‘Abbūdīyah.
