Island Peak

Island Peak is a mountain in Sagarmatha National Park in the Himalayas of eastern Nepal. The peak was named Island Peak in 1953 by members of the British Mount Everest expedition because it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. Island Peak is situated 3 km northeast of Chokarmā Cho.

Chhukhung

Chhukhung is a small village in Khumbu with a fabulous variety of additional spellings such as Chuukung and Chukhung. It is located at 4,730 metres above sea level.

Dingboche

Dingboche is a relatively large village in Khumbu, located between Pangboche and Chukhung. It is above the tree line, and so lacks the greenery of the villages below.

Hillary Step

The Hillary Step was a 40-foot vertical rock face that sat 8,790 metres above sea level on the southeast ridge of Mount Everest. Some 30 metres vertically below the mountain's 8,849-metre summit, it lay halfway between the "South Summit" and topping out. Hillary Step is situated 9 km north of Chokarmā Cho.
