Archaeological site

Cefn Carnedd is an Iron Age hillfort, about 1.5 miles south-west of Caersws, in Powys, Wales. It is a scheduled monument. It is on a hill overlooking the River Severn to the east, and Afon Cerist and Afon Trannon to the north; there is a river confluence to the north-east, between the fort and Caersws. Cefn Carnedd is situated 2½ miles northeast of Penycastell.

Its name, an anglicisation of the local Welsh placename "Fan" or in full "Y Fan", is believed to originate from the names of two ancient farms in the area; Manledd Uchaf and Manledd Isaf. Van is situated 2½ miles west of Penycastell.
