is the county town of County , some 85 km south of Dublin. It's become a commuter town for the city and in 2022 had a population of about 27,000; it's fairly compact and has preserved its old centre.

Muine Bheag, meaning "small thicket", is the official name of the town known in English as . It's in County Carlow and in 2016 it had a population of about 2,800.

is a small market town in County Carlow where N81 crosses the River Slaney. This was the main road between Dublin and Wexford until M11 was built along the coast.

is a town in County Carlow, with an ancient bridge over the River Barrow that's still in use. It stood astride the main Dublin-Waterford road until bypassed in the 1980s. In 2022 its population was less than 1,000.

is a village in the south of County Carlow, with a population in 2016 of 652. The main reasons to visit are for events at House and for hiking in the Blackstairs mountains.
